Women's Volleyball Awards and Regional Outlook

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga . - Six Emmanuel women's volleyball players were recognized for their incredible athletic performances this season.

Julie de Blanck, a senior from Copenhagen, Denmark, dominated at the net while leading the Lions to a South Division title in Emmanuel's first year of Conference Carolinas postseason eligibility. Due to her stellar consistency, de Blanck is the first Emmanuel athlete to be named Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year, leading the Conference in hitting percentage (.349) and blocks per set (0.97), while finishing third in the league with total kills (346) and kills per set (3.49). 

Aysha Avery, a junior from Lawrenceville, Ga., was an unshakable force for the Lions' defense. Along with her co-captain Julie de Blanck, Avery is a pioneer for the Emmanuel women's volleyball team, earning the first Conference Carolinas defensive player of the year award for the program.

Along with de Blanck, Juniors Jessica Gray and Stephanie Hardy were both named to the All-Conference First Team. Aysha Avery Earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. Rounding out the awards for the Lions were Junior Mia McKensey and Freshman Mia Cotton both earning spots on the All-Conference Third Team.

Emmanuel College earned a bid to the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship, the NCAA announced on Sunday (Nov. 11) night.

The Lions received the No. 8 seed in the Southeast region as an automatic qualifier after winning the 2018 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday afternoon

Emmanuel (23-8) will face No. 1 seed Wingate University in the first round on Thursday, November 15th at 7:30pm. The Southeast Regional will be held Nov. 15-17 on the campus of Wingate University in Wingate, N.C.
