FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Women's Volleyball Team had an incredible performance in their last two home games of the season.

In their first matchup of the season against Mount Olive on Friday, the ladies celebrated Senior Night for lone Senior #3 Guro Key Froberg. Froberg had a stellar performance with 11 kills and 11 digs for the night. The Lions kept the Trojans under 16 points every set and went on to sweep Mount Olive in 3 sets. The scores were 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 respectively.

The second game of the weekend was thought to be the matchup of the season with two Conference Carolina powerhouse teams facing off. This was the first time this season #1 Barton played #2 Emmanuel.

Barton started off strong with 6 consecutive points, establishing an early lead. Facing a 13-4 deficit, Emmanuel began gaining some momentum with a couple big blocks from Guro Key Froberg (#3) and Mia McKensey (#14). After a few rallies by the Lions, the teams found themselves tied up at 23-23. Emmanuel then finished off the first set with two kills from Guro Key Froberg (#3) and Julie de Blanck (#9).

In set two, Emmanuel rolled through Barton's defense, holding them to only 13 points. The Lions now had a two game lead with hopes to defeat the #1 ranked bulldogs in just three sets.

In the third and final set, Barton pulled off with the lead early in the game. Halfway through the set, the Lions had a 6 point run to take the lead back, only to be tied back again at 21-21. A couple kills from the Lions offense put them in a good position at set point, then a service error from Barton gave the Lions the victory. The scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-23. Emmanuel was led by Julie de Blanck (#9) with 14 kills, 3 solo blocks, and 2 block assists.

These victories meant Emmanuel defeated every Conference Carolina Opponent in regular season. Unfortunately, the Lions will be unable to compete for the Conference Championship due to Emmanuel's provisional status as a member of NCAA DII.

The ladies will wrap up their season with a couple of away games against Lander on Tuesday October, 31st and Erskine on Saturday, November 4th.
