Women's Volleyball Falls to Southern Wesleyan

CENTRAL, S.C. - The Lady Lions traveled to Southern Wesleyan last night to take on the Warriors. The two teams saw each other compete in the Emmanuel hosted tournament earlier this season, but they did not face off against each other.

In the back and forth 5 setter, the Warriors came out on top, but not without a fight. Set one and three went to the Warriors, while sets two and four went to the Lions, forcing the match to a fifth and final set. In the last set, a couple kills from Julie de Blanck (#9) allowed the Lions to take an early lead, but some attacking errors by Emmanuel gave that lead up. A service ace from SWU put the Warriors up 10-6, then a few more attack errors would cost the Lions the match.

Jessica Gray (#13) led the Lions offensively with 16 kills, while Julie de Blanck (#9) and Mia McKensey (#14) had 3 solo blocks each. Aysha Avery (#21) had 33 digs. The scores were 22-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-17, 9-15 respectively.

The Lions will continue action on Saturday for a tri match against conference foe North Greenville and Virginia-Wise.
