Women's Tennis Voted Favorite To Win Conference Carolinas Championship!

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis preseason poll has been released. Emmanuel College will enter the season as the favorite to win the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Championship, according to Conference Carolinas coaches.

 Emmanuel College: The Lions make its preseason poll debut ranked first with 117 points and nine first-place votes from Conference coaches. Emmanuel went 17-8 overall and 10-1 in Conference play in 2018.

2. Barton College: The Bulldogs enter the season with two first-place votes and 98 points from Conference coaches. Barton turned in a 14-10 overall record in 2018, which included a 9-2 Conference Carolinas record.

Barton returns four All-Conference Carolinas selections in Daria AvramVanessa SanojaMarissa Stevenson and Ada Vargas.

3. Chowan University: The Hawks enter this season ranked third with 87 points from Conference coaches.

Chowan ended last season 20-4 overall and 11-0 in Conference play, which earned the team a sweep of the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament titles. The Hawks would represent the league in the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship.

Chowan returns two all-conference picks from the 2018 squad in Cynthia Carrier and Angelique Gouin.

4. Limestone College: The Saints are only one point behind the Hawks with 86 points and sit in fourth-place entering 2019. Limestone finished last season 8-3 in league play and 10-11 overall.

5.  University of Mount Olive: The Trojans enter the season fifth after tallying 80 points from Conference coaches. Mount Olive finished last season by going 7-14 overall and 6-5 in Conference Carolinas play.

6. Belmont Abbey College: The Crusaders nabbed 78 points and sit only two points behind Mount Olive in the preseason rankings. Belmont Abbey went 7-4 in Conference play and 12-13 overall.

7. Erskine College: The Fleet landed 76 points from Conference coaches, which included one first-place vote. Erskine turned in a 6-14 overall record and 5-6 Conference Carolinas mark in 2018.

8. North Greenville University: The Crusaders enter 2019 in eighth with 46 points from Conference coaches. North Greenville finished 2-15 overall and 1-10 in league play a season ago.

9. Southern Wesleyan University: The Warriors posted 44 points from Conference coaches to enter the season ranked ninth. Southern Wesleyan went 7-12 overall and 4-7 overall in 2018.

10. Converse College: The Valkyries check-in at 10th with 37 points from Conference coaches. Converse went 3-8 in Conference Carolinas play and 8-13 overall last year.

11. Lees-McRae College: The Bobcats are ranked 11th to enter 2019 with 24 points from Conference coaches. Lees-McRae went 2-9 in league contests and 6-9 overall in 2018.

12.  King University: The Tornado round out the preseason poll in 12th with 19 points. King posted an 0-11 league record and 0-17 overall mark in 2018.
