Belmont, NC – The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team traveled to the Belmont Abbey College's campus today, for another Conference Carolinas match this season.
The Lady Lions were looking to keep the momentum acquired after the victory over Barton last week at the start of the doubles matches. With a set game plan of attacking as much as possible, either from the baseline with faster shots or with quick volleys, the Lions faced almost no issues on the court. Botella / O'Connor, on court #1, were the first duo to grab a win this afternoon by 8-2. Not too much later, Cipriano / Silva dispatched their opponents by 8-3. Lastly, on court #2, Raich / Kiderlen had to play a bit more before earning a third point for the Lions by 8-4.
The big lead of 3-0 at the start of singles play, Emmanuel was in need of two extra wins to earn the clinch today. The fourth point came on court #2 with an impeccable performance by the Junior Pearllan Cipriano by 6-0 6-0. On court #5, the also Junior Katharina Kiderlen had no issues whatsoever today to take care of business from the baseline and forcing her opponents to errors, by a solid 6-1 6-0 win. Emmanuel kept pushing forward to get two extra points. On court #3, the sophomore Maria Raich abused of her forehands to get a quick 6-1 6-1 victory. Finally, Victoria Silva faced a great challenge across the net, but the Lady Lion was ready to work and defeated her foe by 6-3 7-5.
The Lady Lions Tennis Team will be back on the road again tomorrow, at the University of Mount Olive Trojans! First serve is scheduled for 10AM!
