EC Women's Tennis dominates West Georgia for another win!

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team took a week off from competition but they served as host today for the University of West Georgia Wolves this Friday Afternoon.

The Lady Lions were looking for an early lead with doubles matches and the plan worked perfectly with Emmanuel taking a nice 3-0 lead. The first win came from Cipriano/Silva on court #3 by a comfortable 8-2. Not too long after Botella/O'Connor abused of strong down the line forehands and fast approaches to the net to grab an 8-3 win. On Court #2, Kiderlen/Raich had a break lead but their opponents fought back and the match got a bit tense before EC clinched by 8-6.

With a big deal at the start of the singles play, the EC Team was only in need of two extra wins to consolidate the match. The first point came from the hands of the Junior Abi Muesse, who grabbed the first set by 6-2 before her opponent retired due to injury. Next, the Freshman Maria Raich used her forehand to move her opponent around and defended extremely well during tough situations to earn a 6-2 6-1 win. On Court #1, Fantine Botella found little to no problem to earn a quick 6-2 6-2 win. The Sophomore Katharina Kiderlen was challenged during the first set on court #5 and after an exchange of service breaks, the lady lion won the first set and cruised in the second to defeat her foe by a solid 6-4 6-0. On court #2 Pearllan Cipriano had to work on her counter attack moves to find her a way out with a 6-2 6-2 win. Lastly, on court #4, the Freshman Victoria Silva had to fight for three sets and overcome several tough situations along the match, like saving big break points and finally just clinching on a super competitive super tie-breaker by 7-5 4-6 10-4.

This match marked another NCAA win for the Emmanuel Women's Tennis Team. Not a lot of rest will be given to this young team since they serve as host for Less McRae College Bobcats. This will be the final conference Carolinas match at home for Emmanuel. First Serve is scheduled for 1PM!
