EC Swimmer Luke Fountain; "First meet of the year and we're bringing home bronze against our Conference Carolinas opponents. Pretty good for a second year team."

The Invite took place between 5 Conference Carolina's teams (Limestone College, Pfeiffer University, King University,Converse College, Emmanuel College). The competition consisted of 10 relay events (200 medley, 300 fly, 300 back, 300brst, 800 free, 500 free, 400 medley, 200 free, 400 im, 400 free).

Head Swim Coach Allen Gilchrest; "We are really growing as a team! Last year we were only able to compete with 1 relay in 7 out of 10 events. This season we fielded all 10 events with 2 relays. Each swimmer competed in 5, 6, 7, oreven 8 relays, so they really had to rely on their training. At the end of the invite our swimmers competed in 137individual swims, so it really was a strong team effort".

Highlight of the meet:

The lady lions 800 freestyle relay (Tobo, Gonzalez, Whitaker, Gratz) broke the EC school record by 6 seconds, finishing to the wall in 7:53.41 respectively.

Paisley Whitaker This was a great first meet! We've grown so much as a team since last year and I can't wait to see how this season plays out."

While swimming is not a Conference Carolinas sponsored sport, all teams that competed today are member institutions of the conference.
