CLEVELAND, Tn. - The Emmanuel College women's soccer team fell to the nationally ranked Lee University on Wednesday night. Despite their 4-1 loss, the Lions had their best series performance against the Flames in program history.
Until tonight, the Lions remained scoreless when matched up against the flames, with their closest match resulting in a 5-0 loss.
The Flames struck first at 12 minutes into the game. A shot just under the crossbar into the right corner of the net brought the score to 1-0.
It wasn't until the second half that the Flames scored again, this time slipping the ball in from three yards out.
Emmanuel would have their opportunity to strike back ten minutes later when they capitalized on a costly turnover by Lee. Junior Lindsay Lee fired a shot from the left side of the box into the top left corner off of an assist from Freshman Moriah Logue.
The match continued with two more goals from the Flames, ending with a 4-1 loss for the Lions.
The ladies will resume play on Friday against North Greenville University on the road. The match may be postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
