Franklin Springs, GA – The Lady Lions fall in tough overtime match against Georgia Southwestern State University 1-2.
The Lady Lions took to the field tonight to battle against Georgia Southwestern State University. The two teams came battling in a tense first half with the Lions maintaining possession of the ball confidently and controlling the flow of the play through the midfield. Senior defender, Blakelee Linder, scored the first goal unassisted shortly before the end of the first half. The score remained at 1-0 going into the halftime break, but the canes responded to this by scoring two goals within the second half after going into a dramatic overtime period. Despite this, the Lady Lions were determined to keep going and picked up their intensity and unleashed a total of six shots at the Canes' goalkeeper. Throughout this, senior goalkeeper, Alley Howell kept her calm, and prevented the Canes from scoring any further goals.
The Lions will return to action to a play a conference game against King University on Sunday 11th of September. Kick off is set at 2:00PM
