FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team won in its Conference Carolinas opener against Lees-McRae 68-61 on Saturday.
After a slow start in the first quarter, the Lions trailed the Bobcats 10-4. A timeout by Emmanuel followed by a fresh new four players on the court rejuvenated the team who followed up with 7 straight points to take the lead 11-10.
The Lions would enter the second quarter with another pair of layups coming from Sophomore Breanna Lock and Ajah Taylor, further extending their lead. The teams continued to exchange points until a final straight five points were delivered from the Bobcats, tying the game 27-27 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Sophomore Hanna Grogan sunk a three-pointer with three minutes remaining to break the tie one last time. The Lions would remain in the lead for the remainder of the night.
Senior Lochlain Corliss and Sophomore Hanna Grogan both recorded the teams first double-double of the season. Corliss finished with 15 points, 5 assists, and 10 rebounds. Grogan tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Next up, the Lions will take on Conference Opponent Converse College on Tuesday, December 4th at 5:30pm in the Williamson Basketball Arena.
