FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – It was a great night for the EC Lady Lions as they defeated the Southern Wesleyan Warriors, 68-88.
The Warriors took an early lead, 11-5, in the first quarter with a few 3-pointers. The Lady Lions took over the lead with two shots from Emily Dreslinski. Mikayla Trombley had a steal allowing Ashlyn Loudermilk to pull up at the basket. The ladies went into the second quarter leading, 18-24. Emily Dreslinski fired the second quarter off with a layup. The ladies were up 11, after two 3-pointers from Taylor Delasbour. Mikayla Trombley ended the half with a missed and made free throw. The ladies walked off to the locker room up, 33-45.
The Lady Lions continued to press into their lead during the third quarter. Taylor Delasbour was failed immediately and made 1-2 of free throws. The Lady Lions defense did not stop the Warriors from scoring, but they made their way back up to that consistent 11-point lead. Emily Dreslinski made 1-2 free throws to end the third quarter. The ladies dropped down to a 10-point lead, 54-64, going into the fourth. The ladies picked up their defense in the fourth quarter stopping the Warriors and gaining a 19-point lead with three minutes remaining. Lochlain Corliss made a 3-pointer and a layup to end the game pushing the Lady Lions forward with a 20-point victory over the Warriors.
The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 14-9, with a conference record of 9-8. The ladies will host North Greenville University at home on Tuesday, February 20th at 5:30 PM.
