FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Lady Lions hosted King University to roar away with a win, 67-72.
Avery Scarbrough and Mikayla Trombley led the ladies in scoring with 15-points each. Lochlain Corliss and Ajah Taylor led the team in rebounds. Lochlain Corliss with 12-defensive and Ajah Taylor with 8-offensive.
The Lady Lions dominated the first quarter from the first shot by Marina Moreno Bendala scoring the first shot, breaking the silence at the seven-minute mark. The ladies put up 14-points in the first quarter and held King at 7-points until the last few seconds brining the score up 12-17, with the Lady Lions in the lead. King made two shots to start the second quarter tying the game 17-17. Genesis Jones snagged the lead back after two free throws. The second quarter remained to be back and forth ending with the Lady Lions in the lead by one, 32-33.
Emmanuel took the lead early in the third quarter, 34-41. Not being able to hold King back much longer, they came back to take over the lead 47-45. King did not hold onto the lead for long once Lochlain Corliss went for a 3-pointer and made it. Avery Scarbrough and Emily Dreslinski were fouled at the end of the third quarter to put the Lady Lions up 47-53. Ajah Taylor started out the fourth quarter with two free throws. Taylor Delasbour led the fourth quarter with back-to-back shots allowing the ladies to lead by 12-points. The Lady Lions gave a few fouls away at the end of the game, but pulled a win against King, 67-72.
The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 12-7, with a conference record of 6-6. They will host Converse College on Tuesday, January 6th at 5:30 PM.
