Lady Lions Fall Short to Crusaders

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – Emmanuel Women's Basketball hosted Belmont Abbey in their second match-up conference game, yet did not have the comeback they were hoping for after their first loss to the Crusaders. The Lady Lions held on until the fourth quarter, losing 60-56.

Freshman Emily Dreslinski led the Lady Lions with 17-points and 7-rebounds in her 26 minutes of playing time. Mikayla Trombley helped with 11-points and Lochlain Corliss helped with 7 rebounds.

The Lady Lions scored first in the match up against the Crusaders, yet the Lady Lions were only up by one point going into the second quarter. The Crusaders then found a way to tie the score not once, but twice during the second quarter before halftime leaving the score 23-23.

The Lady Lions came out of the locker room to get ahead and they did. With under five minutes left in the third quarter, the Lady Lions had an 8-point lead. That lead began to dwindle as the third quarter closed and the Lady Lions were up 35-40. After five points scored by the Crusaders to start the fourth quarter, the game tied 42-42. The scoring kept going staying tied until there were two minutes left in the game. At that point the Crusaders took over the game, scoring their last point due to a foul by Emmanuel ending the game 60-56.

The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 10-7, with a conference record of 5-6. They will play away on Wednesday, January 31st against North Greenville University at 5:30 PM.
