FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Lady Lions performed well for their second match up against the Lees-McRae Bobcats with a 22-point win, 55-77.
Lochlain Corliss led the ladies with 20-points and 13 rebounds. Taylor Delasbour – 14 points – and Mikayla Trombley – 13 points – showed up for the team. Freshman Guard, Emily Dreslinski, was impressive as she took 10-points and 1 huge block in her 22 minutes of play.
The game started out with a technical foul against Lee's McRae allowing the Lady Lions to choose a player to shoot two free throws before the jump ball. Hanna Grogan was chosen and sank both of her shots to begin the game. The game was neck and neck as the first quarter ended 18-18. The Bobcats gained on the ladies with a 10-point lead, that fell to a 5-point lead at the end of the second quarter. The Bobcats were up 36-31 going into halftime.
Quite a few fouls were caught in the third quarter by Avery Scarbrough, Taylor Delasbour, and Mikayla Trombley, which allowed the ladies to gain a 1-point lead. Lochlain Corliss finished the quarter for the ladies compiling 11-points in the last two minutes. The Lady Lions were heading into the fourth quarter with a 9-point lead, 45-54. The Bobcats continued to send the Lady Lions to the free throw line, each sinking the shots in. This grew the ladies lead accompanied by a 3-pointer from Mikayla Trombley and a layup from Emily Dreslinski. Sydney Nash ended the game with a free throw. The Lady Lions had themselves a victory, 55-77.
The Lady Lions now hold an overall record of 10-6, with a conference record of 5-5. They will play at home on Saturday, January 27th at 2:00 PM.
