FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Team took on Limestone College for Tuesday night's game. After overcoming a 19 point deficit, the ladies got within just 2 points of the Saints, but were unable to catch up, allowing Limestone to take the win 68-62.
Immediately after tip-off, Limestone put the Pressure on Emmanuel and showed a very dominant offense. Five minutes into the game, Emmanuel had yet to score, trailing 9-0. The Saints continued to run the court through half time.
After returning from half time, the Lions finally began to capture some momentum. Outscoring Limestone 15 to 8, Emmanuel lessened the gap and went into the final quarter down only 6 points. A couple made free throws from Hanna Grogan (#31) and a layup from Emily Dreslinksi (#20) brought the score to 44-42, the closest of the night. The Saints would hit back with 3 consecutive 3-pointers to take back a commanding lead, then finish off the quarter with 3 more 3-pointers to win the game 68-62.
Leading the Lions was Lochlain Corliss (#23) with 14 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds.
This loss brings the lions record to 7-4 overall and 2-3 conference.
The ladies will continue action on Friday, January 5th where they will travel to Belmont Abbey to take on the Crusaders.
