Winona Lake, I.N.- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team flew to Indiana to compete in the NCCAA National Championship after their South Regional Division win. Their first game of the tournament was against Grace College, whom they defeated with a final score of 73-53. Mikayla Trombley was the top scorer of the game with 18-points. She was followed by Taylor Delasbour with 14-points. Elise Coberly snagged the most rebounds for the ladies with 11-total.
Elise Coberly started out the first quarter with a good two points. She was followed by two points from Mikayla Trombley who put up two points. Timia Reynolds put up a jump shot to push the ladies in front 6-5. Mikayla Trombley stole the ball from Grace College to charge down the court for a jump shot. She turned right around and scored another two points. Lady Lions were now up 10-5. Elise Coberly put up her first 3-pointer of the game followed by a jump shot from Timia Reynolds. Grace College fouled Mikayla Trombley and she ended the game with her two free throws. The Lady Lions were up 17-10 going into the second quarter.
Elise Coberly started out the second quarter with a free throw from a foul by Grace College. Taylor Delasbour made her first two points of the game in a jump shot. Genesis Jones snagged a defensive rebound allowing Mikayla Trombley made a jump shot. Taylor Delasbour put up another two points on the board. Timia Reynolds snagged a defensive rebound allowing Mikayla Trombley to put up her first 3-pointer. Timia Reynolds stole the ball from Grace College to allow Taylor Delasbour to make her first 3-pointer of the game. Timia Reynolds came around to score another jump shot for the ladies bringing the ladies up 33-18. Grace College handed out a foul to Taylor Delasbour who scored the last two points of the second quarter. The Lady Lions went to halftime leading 35-25.
Elise Coberly got on the ball as soon as the third quarter started with a jump shot. Avery Scarbrough scored back-to-back jump shots. Grace College showed improvement on their defense this quarter keeping the ladies from scoring as much as they had been. Ashlyn Loudermilk scored her first two points of the game. Lochlain Corliss ended the third quarter with her first 3-pointer bringing the ladies up 55-33.
The fourth quarter started out with the Lady Lions in front by 22-points. This was a quarter for 3-pointers starting out with back-to-back shots from Mikayla Trombley and Elise Coberly. Taylor Delasbour followed with her second 3-pointer of the game. Jenesai Mohammed scored entered the game and scored her first two points of the game. She turned right back around to score her first 3-pointer bringing the ladies up 71-48. Abigail Defabio entered the gameand put up a jump shot off an offensive rebound she snagged. Her last two points would end the game. Lady Lions had a victory on their hands 73-53.
The Women's Basketball team will play against Mid-America Christian University in the Semi-Finals on Thursday, March 16th at 8:45 P.M.
