The Emmanuel Lady Lions win against the Lees-McRae Bobcats

Franklin Springs, Ga- Tonight the Lady Lions took on the Lees-McRae Bobcats in their second conference game of the season. The game ended with a score of 69-77. We saw the most points put up by Coberly scoring 23, Trombley scoring 21, and Reynolds scoring 17.

The first quarter opened with Avery Scarbrough making her first jump shot of the night. Mikayla Trombley made the next three shots, including a free throw and her first 3-pointer of the night. The ladies were now up 3-8. Elise Coberly came through with a layup and Mikayla Trombley scored her second 3-pointer of the game bringing the score to 4-13. The Bobcats began to come back closing in on the Lions 9-point lead, when Elise Coberly made her first 3-pointer of the night. The Bobcats took over the lead and the first quarter came to an end with the score 19-18, the Lady Lions down by one.

Starting out the second quarter, Taylor Delasbour scored her first two points leaving the ladies only trailing by one. Timia Reynolds brought the ladies back into the lead with her layup and then lost the lead to the Bobcats again. The ladies finally broke through when Mikayla Trombley made a layup and Elise Coberly followed through with her second 3-pointer of the night bringing the score to 25-29. Marina Bendal brought the lead up even more with her first layup of the night. The first half of the game ended with the ladies up 30-33.

The second half of the game started out with good defense on both sides, including a steal from Mikayla Trombley. She then was fouled and made both of her free throws. Timia Reynolds turned right around and scored her first 3-pointer of the game raising the ladies lead 30-38. Genesis Jones and Elise Coberly both made layups followed by Timia Reynolds second 3-pointer, within just two minutes of her last one, bringing the ladies to lead by eleven, 34-45. Mikayla Trombley added to that with her third 3-pointer of the night bringing the ladies lead up to a 15-point lead. The Bobcats scored and Timia Reynolds made a layup for the Lions which would conclude the third quarter. The third quarter ended with the score at 42-54.

The fourth quarter started out with four points by Timia Reynolds. Elise Coberly followed with her third 3-pointer of the night and the ladies now had a 17-point lead with the score 43-60. The Bobcats began to play their defense better and tried to make a comeback. They were only down three points when Mikayla Trombley came through with her fourth 3-pointer of the game to hype the Lady Lions up. Ashlyn Loudermilk and Genesis Jones both scored after that. The Bobcats fouled back to back allowing Taylor Dealsbour to make one free throw, Elise Coberly to make four, Genesis Jones to make two, and then Elise Coberly made two final free throws to end the game. The game ended with your Lady Lions winning with a score of 69-77.

The Lady Lions now hold a record of 2-3 with a conference record of 1-1. The ladies will play their game away at Limestone on Saturday December 3rd. That game will begin at 5:30 P.M.
