Franklin Springs, Ga – After 5 years of coaching the Lady Lions, Head Coach Kasey Alexander is stepping down from her role to pursue a business venture with her husband. While Kacey has enjoyed her time at Emmanuel, she is excited for the opportunity to spend more time with her family now that she will not be on road or away at tournaments.
Coach Alexander came to Emmanuel after coaching several different age groups from 8-18 and umpiring at the collegiate level. She was a standout player at the University of South Carolina – Spartanburg where she excelled both academically and athletically. During her time as a Lady Rifle, she started at second base all four years, was named team captain two years, Peachbelt Player of the Week, All Region, and named to the NCAA Regional Tournament Team.
During her time at Emmanuel, Kasey's best season came in 2016 when she led her team through the NCCAA South Region Tournament to become Regional Champions. They went on to compete for the NCCAA World Series.
"It has been a pleasure to learn and grow along with everyone at Emmanuel College. I have made lifelong friendships with colleges and players throughout the last five years. Emmanuel has truly been a blessing, and I will forever be a Lion!" Says Coach Alexander.
Coach Alexander certainly made an impact on her team, as one of her former players Alexis Costlow (So) had the following to say, "If I had to describe Coach Alexander in one word it would be passionate. She was always pushing us to do our best and give 100% on and off the field. She always challenged us to be competitive even when the odds were stacked against us. She was always very positive but was firm when she needed to be as any good coach is. She was our coach and she was our friend who modeled a strong Christian life for us and showed her faith on and off the field."
About her current athletes, Coach Alexander would like to say the following, "They are a great group of girls with amazing talent. They will break records this year, they will turn heads. Tell everyone to go watch them and support them, they are going to be great!"
The Emmanuel College Athletic Department would like to wish Kacey luck on her new venture and thank her for her time here. A national search for a new Head Softball Coach has begun.
