On February 28th, 2017 the Emmanuel Lady Lions took on the Brenau Tigers at home in a double-header event.
In game one the Tigers started off with a good eye at the plate as they loaded the bases with walks and a HBP. The Tigers would continue to rally with a few hits to start off with a strong 5-0 lead. Both teams would stay quiet until the bottom of the third when freshman Meredith Reece singled to third base starting an Emmanuel rally. Sophomore Crystal Busbee then hit a single to left field and was advanced when Noelle Petty singled to the shortstop. The Lady Lions finally got on the board when sophomore Becky Collins singled to right center bringing in Reece. A wild pitch would then bring in Busbee. Freshman Mary Baxter then singled down the left field line bringing in 2 RBI—Collins and Petty. This left the score 5-4 Brenau until the top of the fifth when the Tigers scored three more runs off a couple singles. The Golden Tigers would go on to score 1 more run in the top of the 7th. The Lady Lions sadly could not battle back and fell to the Tigers in game one 11-4.
In game two the Tigers started off hot again as a triple and a couple singles brought the score 2-0. Top of the second Brenau continued their rally by scoring two more runs. Without responding the Tigers quickly scored three more runs off of a couple singles and a double top of the 4th. Emmanuel finally answered back bottom of the 5th when Meredith Reece was HBP and Sophomore Taylor Saxon doubled to bring in Reece. Senior Halle Cheek then reach on an error and Sophomore Crystal Busbee then doubled to bring in Saxon. After that freshman Noelle Petty then singled to bring in both Busbee and Cheek. 7-4 Brenau. Top of the 7th, Brenau came out hot again to score one run off an error. Emmanuel quickly replied with another run when Crystal Busbee reached on an error and then scored when Noelle Petty hit a SAC fly to right field. Becky Collins then singled to right field and Mary Baxter singled to the left side. Battling hard, the Lions fell to the Tigers 8-5 after a tough ball game.
