Lady Lions Sweep Lees-McRae

Banner Elk, NC - The Lady Lions traveled to Lees-McRae for a double header conference event. Kara Hembree started it off with a single to left field and stole second on a wild pitch. Kalen Callaway then doubled to centerfield to bring in Hembree. Then Crystal Busbee doubled to left center to bring Callaway. Top of the 4th the Lions came back for more when Freshman Brianna Morgan hit her first collegiate home run to left center. Bottom of the 4th Lees-McRae finally score their first run off a couple singles and a walk; 3-1 Lions.

The Emmanuel Lady Lions couldn't leave it at that and came back hot and ready top of the 5th. Kalen Callaway doubled to right center and Madison Franklin singled to the right side. Kirsten Hill then walked to load the bases and Brianna Morgan walked to bring in Callaway. Jorden Williams then walked to bring in Franklin. Jessica Allen then hit a SAC fly ball to bring in Hill. After that Kara Hembree singled to the short stop and brought in Aubree Thacker who went in to run for Morgan. 8-1 Lions. Bottom of the 5th the Bobcats tried to come back with a couple of singles and a walk but only scored 2 runs; 8-3 Lions. Bottom of the 6th the Lees-McRae scored another run but were held up short by the solid Emmanuel defense; 8-4 Lions.

Top of the 7th the Lions continued to rally when Brianna Morgan singled to center field and Jorden Williams singled to left center. Jessica Allen then went on to single to left field to load the bases. Kara Hembree then singled to short stop and brought in Morgan. After that Cheyenne Galloway flied out to center field to bring in Williams. Hembree then distracted the Bobcat defense for Allen to steal home; 11-4 Lions.

Bottom of the 7th a couple walks and a single brought in one last run for Lees-McRae but the Bobcats fell short and the Lions won 11-5.

Key Players Include: Brianna Morgan with a home run, 2 RBIs, and going 2-3 at the plate; Kalen Callaway with a double, an RBI, and going 3-3 at the plate; Crystal Busbee with a double and an RBI; Kara Hembree had 2 RBIs and went 4-5 at the plate; Cheyenne Galloway had an RBI and SAC fly; Jorden Williams had an RBI and went 1-2 at the plate; Jessica Allen had an RBI and went 2-3 at the plate. Freshman Pitcher Madison Hopper also had a great game on the mound and Pitcher Hannah Perry came in clutch to close the game on the mound.


In Game two the Lions came out strong once again to score first at the top of the 2nd when Brianna Morgan was hit by a pitch. Aubree Thacker then went in to pinch run and Crystal Busbee moved her over with a ground out to the right side. Jorden Williams then singled to right center to bring in Thacker. Halle Cheek then singled up the middle to bring in Williams; 2-0 Lions.

The score would be held there until bottom of the 7th when Lees-McRae had their chance to win. A single put a Bobcat runner on but the solid Emmanuel defense pulled through to hold them; 2-1 Lady Lions.

Key Players Include: Halle Cheek who threw a runner at 2nd and had an RBI; Crystal Busbee and Kalen Callaway with a relay to throw a runner out at home; and Pitcher Erin Harden had 12 strike outs of the 29 batters faced.
