Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel Lady Lions took on GA Southwestern in a double header event. In game one the Lady Lions came out swinging but couldn't score in the first inning. Top of the 2nd the GSU Hurricanes came out to score their first run with one hit. The Lady Lions responded when Jorden Williams walked and Halle Cheek singled to second base but the Lions couldn't bring them in to score. Top of the 3rd a home run by the Canes brought in another run; 2-0 Canes. Top of the 6th the Hurricanes continued their rally when a couple of singles and hit by pitch load the bases. A double hit three runs in for the Canes 5-0. Out of character the Lady Lions couldn't respond and lost 5-0 in the bottom of the 7th.
In game two the Hurricanes came back out swinging as a home run put their first run on the board but this time the Lady Lions were ready for their turn. Bottom of the first Kara Hembree singled to right field and Madison Franklin singled to second base to bring in Hembree. GSU came back out top of the 3rd with two back to back homeruns put two more on the board for the Canes; 3-1 Canes. Bottom of the 4th the Lions started a rally when Kalen Callaway reached on an error and Madison Franklin SAC bunted to move her over. Kirsten Hill then singled down the line. A trick play by the lions score Callaway and Jorden Williams singled to bring in Hill; 3-3.
The tie score would send both teams into tie breaker play (ITB). The solid Lions defense would hold the Canes from scoring and set the Lady Lions up for their chance to score. Aubree Thacker went to run on second base and then senior Kalen Callaway hit a walk off homerun to win the game 5-3.
Key Players Include: Kalen Callaway with a homerun and an RBI; Madison Franklin with an RBI and going 1-2 at the plate; Jorden Williams with an RBI. Pitcher Erin Harden also had 8 strike outs.
