SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The EC Lion Clay Target team recently competed in the 49th Annual ACUI Collegiate Clay Target National Championships at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. Eleven team members participated in American Trap, International Trap, American Skeet, International Skeet, 5-Stand and Sporting Clays in the six-day event.
Competing for Emmanuel were Noah Adair, Mark Beardsley, Stephanie Beardsley, Blake Chitwood, Kaleb Dorow, Cassidy Eberhart, Evan Milford, Shelby Moon, Hayley Rushing, Christian Salvanera, and Dustin Wilder.
The Lions posted an overall score of 2127 placing them 7th in the Division 2 standings. The team's best event finish came in American Trap where they posted a 490/500 for a 4th place finish.
The highlight of the week came on the final day in American Trap when Junior Noah Adair shot a perfect 100, then survived a 15-person shoot-off to beat out a total of over 700 athletes to finish as the ACUI American Trap National Champion!
In addition to Adair's National Championship performance, the Lion's earned multiple individual awards. Stephanie Beardsley posted a 99/100 in route to finishing 2nd in the Ladies Division of American Trap, Dustin Wilder shot a 93/100 for 3rd in Class B American Skeet, and although the event did not count toward the teams overall total, Mark Beardsley won the Flurry for Funds College Shoot-Out earning $5,000 for the team's MidwayUSA Foundation endowment account.
The ACUI Collegiate National Championships featured 85 teams with 828 of the best college shooters from across the nation. We are very proud of all the members of the Clay Target Team and their outstanding accomplishments.
