Jacksonville, FL - College teams from all over the Southeast came to Jacksonville, FL to compete in the SCTP SE Regional Championships. The Emmanuel Clay Target team performed well in the last shoot before Nationals.
The first day was Trap, Skeet and Wobble Trap. EC took third with a combined 714, 2nd was Clemson university with 716 and Division 1 Bethel University took the top spot with 723. Scoring individually for the Lions in Ladies Skeet was Shelby Evans 3rd, in Men's Skeet, Evan Milford 3rd and Jeremy Jackson 4th. In Trap it was Shelby again taking 4th on the Ladies side and Noah Adair finishing 5th on the Men's. Mark Beardsley finished 2nd in Men's High Overall with Shelby Evans placing 4th and Stephanie Beardsley 5th in the Ladies division.
The second day was Sporting Clays at Jacksonville Gun Club. Bethel again took the top spot with a 469. Jacksonville University finished 2nd with 460, Clemson was 3rd with 454 and EC finished 4th one target behind Clemson with 453. Cassidy Eberhart won her first collegiate shoot off and took second place on the Ladies side, followed by Shelby Evans finishing 4th. Noah Adair took 4th and Evan Milford 3rd on the Men's side.
You wouldn't think a coach would be pleased with a 3rd and 4th place finish, commented Coach Cawthon, but the team shot really well overall against some very tough competition. I think our team is performing well at a crucial time, right before Nationals. I'm anticipating a good end to the season.
Next up the Lions travel to San Antonio, Texas for the 47th Annual ACUI National Clay Target Championships.
