Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Conference Carolinas Championships

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Emmanuel College men's cross country team competed at the 2018 Conference Carolinas Championship on Saturday. In just their first year of being eligible for conference post season play, the Lions finished third overall among the nine competing teams. 

The University of Mount Olive won the championship by placing the top 11 runners in the race. The Trojans registered a score of 13, their third perfect score in the last four years.

Lees-Mcrae would take second, just 19 points ahead of Emmanuel.

The Lions finished in third place with a team score of 88. Sophomore Jake Morgan led the team with a time of 26:30.6, placing 12th. Morgan's top 15 finish placed him on the All-Conference Third Team. Freshman Mugisha Bienvenu just missed out on conference honors by placing 16th overall with a time of 26:47.4. Sophomore Ethan Hargrove finished 19th (27:25.4) while Sophomore Will Boomer and Junior DaMonte Ward rounded out the final two spots in 33rd and 34th.
