CARY, Nc. - The Emmanuel College men's cross country team competed at the Nike hosted Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday. Among the sixteen competing schools, Emmanuel had a solid 4th place finish, just three points behind Florida Atlantic University.
Leading the pack was division 1 powerhouse Duke University in 1st place followed by Morehouse College in 2nd.
The Lions were led by Freshman Mugisha Bienvenu who took 15th place out of 104 total runners with a time of 26:27.2. Sophomore Ethan Hargrove was next in line for the Lions in 19th place with a time of 26:48.4. Just two places behind him was Sophomore Jake Morgan with a time of 26:53.4. Sophomore William Boomer finished 23rd with a time of 27:05.7. Rounding out the top five for Emmanuel was Junior DaMonte Ward in 37th place with a time of 28:22.0.

"I am extremely excited with the way our team raced this past weekend," said Head Coach Ryan Rosbury. "After coming off a hard week of training and a race the previous weekend, they were focused and ran tough. We are improving every day and I am excited to see what will happen in a few weeks at our conference meet."
The Lions will compete next at the Queens Invite on Friday, October 12th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
