GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball Team resumed action on Friday night against North Greenville University. In another tough conference lineup, the Lions fell short 3-1.
Set one started with several powerful exchanges coming from both teams. Ackeem West (#9) earned the first point for the Lions, followed by a kill from NGU's Matthew McManaway. Aleksa Lakic (#1) returned with his first kill of the night and the action continued. In the final stretch of the first set, the Crusaders had 4 consecutive errors, giving Emmanuel a 23-20 lead. Don Thompson finished off the set with 2 kills, giving Emmanuel set number one.
In set two, the Lions were unable to get in a groove. The Crusaders went on several runs and finished with 11 kills compared to Emmanuel's 3. NGU took set number two 25-13.
The Lions challenged the Crusaders throughout both sets three and four, but were unable to close out either sets. Narrowly outscoring Emmanuel, North Greenville took set number three 29-27 and set number four 26-24.
Emmanuel will return to the court tomorrow at 11:00am as they take on Alderson Broaddus at home.
