Men's Volleyball Swept by Barton College

WILSON, N.C. - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball Team continued action on the road today against Barton College. After coming off a loss last night to conference opponent Mount Olive, the Lions were swept by the Bulldogs.

Set one was fairly even as both teams battled it out. Several lead changes occurred with a big opportunity for the Lions at the 18-18 mark. A service error from the Bulldogs gave Emmanuel the lead and the Lions followed up with a service ace from #6 Don Thompson then a kill from #9 Ackeem West. The Lions looked to be in good shape with a 3 point lead in the final stretch. Barton would call a timeout then come back with a kill from #19 Angelos Mandilaris. Emmanuel would score one more time with another kill from Ackeem West, but the Bulldogs would cruise to a 25-22 victory after a 6 point run.

The second and third sets saw Barton grab an early lead and hang on for the duration of the match. The Lions tallied 31 kills and 3 aces but were unable to keep up with the Bulldogs who took the match with final scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-16.

The Lions will pick up again on February 3rd when they take on King University on the road.
