Franklin Springs, GA – Only a day after hosting the Belmont Abbey College Crusaders, the Emmanuel College Men's Tennis Team served as host one more time, now for the Pfeiffer University Falcons for the third conference Carolinas match of the week.
In Doubles play, the Falcons looked more comfortable at the net and quickly earned important breaks on courts #1 and #2. The story was different on court #3 where the Lions duo, Canadas/Watteeuw had another great performance and faced no issues and closed the match by 8-0. Pfeiffer took the overall lead by capturing wins on the first two courts to start the singles play 2-1.
The singles play kicked off with closed matches by the Freshman Guillaume Watteeuw dispatched his opponent by a quick 6-0 6-2 to give the equalizer for the Lions. Pfeiffer responded with a solid win on court #1 while Enrique Alcacer was taken to the limit before he finally triumphed in three sets by 6-0 6-7 6-3. After playing two other tough singles matches this week, Jorge Canadas ran out of energy and answers today and fell on court #2. The Falcons now had the lead, 4-3, and only needed one more to consolidate the win. The Lions earned a fourth point in three set by the hands of the Senior David Forehand by 6-4 3-6 10-3. The last point of the day was taken by the visiting Falcons on court #4 played by the Senior Braden Anglin, who fell by 7-5 6-4.
The EC Lions will have a small break but they will be back in action this Sunday, now on the road, at the home of the Limestone Saints. First Serve is scheduled for 2PM!
