SEWANEE, TN --- Saturday, October 29th, 2016. The lions come home victorious at the 2016 Sewanee University Invite, winning 15 out of 19 events and setting 13 meet records.
In the 200 medley relay (Pendergraft, Reichenbach, Jones, Brown) placed 3rd in 1:42.67.
In the 200 free relay (Stigant, Mendoza, Mendez, Aleksandrowicz) placed 1st in a meet record (1:25.77).
In the 200 IM, Mendoza finished 1st (1:56.73) in meet record time, Jones 7th (2:09.40), and Bonna 8th (2:13.70).
In the 400 IM, Mendoza placed 1st (4:12.11) in meet record time, Raczynski 3rd (4:27.55), Reichenbach 8th (4:35.67), and Rabern 11th (5:22.57).
In the 200 fly, Brown finished 6th (2:13.37), and Rabern placed 11th (2:26.25). In the 200 back, Pendergraft finished 5th (2:06.49), and Reichenbach placed 6th (2:08.15). In the 200 breast Jones placed 3rd (2:19.07), Carrasquilla 5th (2:23.37), and Roberts placed 9th (2:44.62).
In the 200 free, Raczynski placed 1st (1:46.74), Mendes 4th (1:51.06), Williamson 5th (1:51.71), Armes 9th (1:56.23), and Roberts 14th (2:03.91). In the 500 free, Raczynski placed 1st (4:46.84), Williamson 5th (5:03.63), Armes 7th (5:08.50), and Rabern 14th (5:40.87).
In the 50 free Aleksandrowicz placed 1st (21.25) in meet record time, Mendes placed 2nd (21.86), Stigant placed 4th (22.42), Williamson placed 7th (23.34), Carrasquilla placed 14th (23.98), Perry placed 16th (24.52), and Bonna placed 18th (24.94). In the 100 free, Aleksandrowicz placed 1st (46.96) in meet record time, Stigant placed 4th (49.86), Brown placed 9th (51.20), Roberts placed 17th (54.17), Bonna placed 21st (56.41) and Foxworth placed 23rd (1:01.03).
Senior Captain, David Rabern, commented: "It was a blast! We have been at this meet for three years, year 1 we did not place year 2 we placed second and here we are at year 3 winning won both the men and women. It is an honor and blessing to watch our team progress and finish on top!"
Next up, the lions have their final home meet of the semester, this Saturday, November 5th at 1pm, in a dual meet against Berry College. GO LIONS!
