FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team took down King University in their first home game of the season. This win also marked the Lions first ever conference win as full members of Conference Carolinas.
The match remained scoreless through the first half, despite the Lions aggressive 11 shots compared to only 3 from the Tornado.
The first goal of the game came twenty-two minutes into the second half when Junior Danny McKerchar Cameron took advantage of a penalty kick and fired a shot into the left corner of the net. Cameron's first goal of the season proved to be the match winning point.
The Tornado retaliated in the remainder of the second half with 15 shots, five more than the Lions. Despite their multiple attempts, the match ended with a 1-0 victory for the Lions.
Senior goalkeeper Andy Dunnett racked up 10 saves in his second game of the season, after returning from an injury.
The Lions hope to carry their momentum into Wednesday, September 12th for their second conference match of the season. Emmanuel will take on Belmont Abbey at home with a scheduled start time of 6:00pm.
