FRANKLIN SPRING, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Men's Soccer Team hoped to capture a win in an important game against Conference Carolina foe Erskine College. What started out as a crisp, clear evening quickly turned into a rainy, fog smothered field.
In the first period, Emmanuel set the pace with the first goal coming from Danny Cameron (#7) and an assist from Deibyd Contreras (#10). With the lead now in hand, Emmanuel stepped back on the field and never slowed now. In the final 5 minutes of the first half, Yannick Cerven (#23) gave the assist to Jeremy Gwaltney (#2) who was able to score and widen the lead. With the score now at 2-0, Emmanuel would not let Erskine score for the remainder of the game partly thanks to Goal Keeper Andy Dunnett (#1) with 2 saves for the Lions.
While no scores were made in the second half, it was action filled with both teams eagerly trying their best to make something happen. With intensity, the Lions and Flying Fleet challenged eachother until the final minute.
Congrats to the Lions on their first victory of the season.
The men hope to capture another win at home on Saturday where they will take on North Georgia at 5:00 PM.
