Dahlonega, GA - The Emmanuel College Men's Soccer Team lost a tough battle against North Georgia University on Wednesday 4-5.
The Lions had a tough first half, trailing 0-3 making it difficult for the Lions to gain momentum. Soon, things would start to go the Lions way when Sean Fitzgerald put Emmanuel on the board with an assist by Sam Mutton.Then, not even two minutes later, the Lions scored again with a header by Michael Williams with the assist from Nico Becker. To end the period, the Nighthawks won a free kick on the far side scoring their fourth goal and advancing their lead to 4-2 at halftime.
The Lions started the second half strong scoring their third goal early within two minutes of the second half by Channing Park scored a header for the Lions with the assist from Blair Springhall and Martin Mitreski. The Lions' goalkeeper, Justin Greatorex, made a few key saves, but with twenty-two minute left on the clock, the Nighthawks were able to find the back of the net advancing the score to 5-3. The Lions were able to score one more goal from an own goal off of one of the Nighthawks, moving the score to 4-5 for the Lions. The Lions kept battling, but were unfortunately unable to score again, leaving the final score at 4-5.
This defeat moves the Lions to 0-4 overall. They will be back in action on Saturday in an away match against conference opponent, Mount Olive.
