Franklin Springs, GA - - Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Patrick Johnston has announced the Early Signing of seven student athletes, all of which will graduate as the class of 2019 at Emmanuel College, to National Letters of Intent. There is one goalie, one defenseman, one attack, and four midfielders.
"We are blessed to have such a diverse and dynamic group of young men to choose Emmanuel and our lacrosse program, and I want to welcome each player and his family to our Emmanuel Lions Lacrosse Family" said head coach Patrick Johnston. "These guys bring a lot to Emmanuel on and off of the field which remains the emphasis for continuing building a successful program. Their character in the classroom and in the community is as strong as their talent on the field. This is an exceptional group of young men, and each student athlete brings something unique to the team which will make their mark on our program and our school for years to come."
Alec Ammons, Defense (Pope HS; Roswell, Georgia): a 6', 170 pound hardnosed defender from Pope High School, Ammons earned the "Character Award" in 2014. Ammons played club ball for the Zombie Hunters.
Samuel Clay, Attack/Midfield (Centennial HS; Baltimore, MD): at 6'1" and 175 pounds, Clay is a rangy attack and midfield for coach Nick Kellinger at Centennial HS where he also served as a captain in his junior year. Clay played with the Snappers Lacrosse Club.
Cameron Free, Midfield (Brookwood HS; Snellville, GA): Free is a shifty 5'9", 160 pound midfielder that lettered and started four years at Brookwood High School under Coach Dru Ulloa. Free has tallied 50 goals, 15 assists, and over 130 groundballs heading in to his senior campaign. He has also previously been named a 2x Scholar-Athlete. Free's club team was the Georgia Copperheads.
Blaine Mays, Midfield (Pell City HS; Pell City, AL): Mays, another rangy 6' and 165 pound midfielder originally from New Hampshire, plays for Coach Randy Nace at Vestavia Hills High School. Mays spent his summers playing for the LAB, the Lacrosse Academy of Birmingham.
Jake Padden, Goalie (Mill Creek HS; Braselton, Georgia): with a big frame of a 6'2", 195 pound, Padden is a senior captain and goaltender for Mill Creek where he start for Coach Bo Adams. In his junior campaign, Padden posted an impressive 67% save percentage as Mill Creek's starting goalie. He also played for Georgia's Brine All-American team in 2013.
Blake Siegmund, Midfield (Mill Creek HS; Hoschton, Georgia): a stout 5'10", 186 pound midfielder from Mill Creek High School, Siegmund has three varsity letters for the Coach Adams' Hawks. In addition to being one the top academic students at MCHS, Siegmund has played in the summer and fall with the Georgia Blackhawks.
Josh Wells, Midfield (Pope HS; Marietta, Georgia): Wells is a 6', 200 pound midfielder from Coach Carl Pfaff's Pope Greyhounds. As a junior, Wells grabbed 27 groundballs, notched 13 assists, and scored 11 goals while earning the "Most Positive Player" Award in Cobb County and Pope's "Best Effort" Award. Wells played club ball for the Thunder and Dirty Birds.
