ALBANY, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Men's Golf Team competed at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Georgia SouthWestern last weekend. The tournament was played at the 18 hole, par 72 Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Georgia. After two rounds of play, the Lions claimed 5th place out of the 13 competing teams.
"[It was] one of the best opening rounds we have had all year," Head Coach Howard Eaton said.
Along with finishing 5th overall, the Lions had one golfer finish in the top 10. Jason Murphy finished tied for 7th sitting at just one over par with a final score of 145. Murphy had an exceptional first round sitting three under par at 69.
"Murphy had his best round of his 4 year career at EC," Eaton said.
Finishing next for the Lions was Erik Sundstrom who tied for 22nd place with a final score of 150, 6-over par.
The team total after both rounds was 595 +19.
The next scheduled invitational for the Men's Golf Team is on April 2 in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
