Emmanuel College Golf Compete at Coastal Georgia Winter Invitationals

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Men's Golf team is competing in the 2018 Coastal Georgia Men's Winter Invitational at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons, G.A.  

After the first round of the tournament, which was held on Feb. 12., the Lions are in sixth place with a 301.

The host of the tournament, College of Coastal Georgia, leads with a 277, with Keiser University coming in second at 290. The other three teams in the top five include the University of North Georgia at 291, SCAD Savannah with a 294 and Thomas University at 298.

On the individuals leaderboard, Andrew Smith shot a two-under 70, which put him in first for the Lions. He is also tied for fifth place overall.

Erik Sundstrom and Logan Reese both shot a four-over 76 and are tied for 40th place with men from Thomas University, St. Thomas University, the University of Mobile, Bryan College, Covenant College and Coastal Georgia Indy.

Drew Bryant tied for 62nd place with a seven-over 79, and Jason Murphy tied for 86th place at a 11-over 83.

The second round of the tournament was held Feb. 13.

While the men's team competed, two women from the Emmanuel College Women's Golf team competed at the Coastal Georgia Women's Winter Invitational at King and Prince Golf Course in St. Simons, G.A.

Elizabeth Kerezsy tied for 25th place with a 14-over 86 while Grace Draughn tied for 32nd place with a 17-over 89.

The invitational was held Feb. 12 and 13.
