FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team fell to conference opponent Mount Olive on Saturday evening, 82-75. This loss brings the Lions record to 19-8 overall, 12-2 conference.
The Lions outplayed the Trojans in the first half by taking an early lead and converting seven more shots. A spread of seven different Lions combined for 29 points to thrust Emmanuel to a 29-25 lead by halftime.
Despite a much stronger performance in the second half, the Lions couldn't keep up with the Trojan offense. Mount Olive shot an impressive 63.6% from behind the three-point line to sink seven three-pointers. After facing a 17 point deficit with less than nine minutes remaining, the Lions struggled to catch up. Emmanuel would close the gap to as little as six points, but the Trojans would capture the victory, 82-75.
Next up, the Lions will take on Erskine College at home on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:30pm.
