Basketball Lions Stops the Tornado in its Tracks

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Lions swept through the King University Tornado with a win, 86-94.

Kendrick Colvin scored his season high in a single game with 30-points being 14-18 from the field. Elijah Robinson followed closely scoring 23-points.

King kept up with the Lions for most of the first half. Both teams were able to put points up one after another keeping the game tied until there were seven minutes left. Kendrick Colvin and Elijah Robinson placed layups in the basket pushing the Lions up by five. Derek Vandiver entered the game to make three 3-pointers in a row to end the first half. After quick scoring and strong defense from the Lions, the were up 36-51.

The Lions came out slinging baskets to keep their lead above the Tornado. Kendrick Colvin made a dunk assuring the Lions 13-point lead just five minutes into the second half. Kendrick Colvin led this half for the Lions scoring most of his points. By the ten-minute mark of the half, King managed to get the lead 71-69. Kendrick Colvin managed to tie the game after a few layups, 79-79. After two more shots by Kendrick Colvin, the Lions were ahead again 79-83. The Lions assured their win with under a minute left by three more shots from Kendrick Colvin. The Lions took a big conference win with a final score of 86-94.

The Lions now hold an overall record of 13-9, with a conference record of 7-5. Their next game will be played away at Limestone on Saturday, February 10th beginning at 7:30 PM.
