Franklin Springs, Ga- The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team played against Ga. Southwestern and pulled out a victory. The Lions won against the Surge by ten points with the score being 83-73. The top scorers of the game tonight were Emerson McClung, Zach Lillie, and Austin Greene. Zach Vess and Emerson McClung gained the most rebounds of the night.
Emerson McClung started out the game with a jump shot. After that, he could put up the next four points. The Surge was leading the Lions 8-6, but Zach Vess made a layup to tie the game. The Surge came back once again, but Emerson McClung made his first 3-pointer of the game to bring the Lions back into the lead. The Lions lost the lead one more time and were trailing by 8-points. Emerson McClung added the next 7-points to the board, including his second 3-pointer of the game. Zach Lillie scored the next 5-points which left the Lions trailing by one point. Zach Vess came through with a layup to regain the lead. Austin Greene continued that lead with his first 3-pointer of the game. Colton Collins scored his first two points for the night. Zach Vess followed him with the first dunk of the night. Austin Greene and Zach Vess both added two more points to the board, which ended the first half of the game. The Lions were leading the Surge 29-36.
The second half started out with the Lions in the lead and it stayed that way. Zach Lillie scored the first four points of the half. To hype things up, Emerson McClung stole the ball from the Surge and made the second dunk of the night. This brought the Lions to a ten-point lead, which Austin Greene extended when he made his second 3-pointer of the night. Colton Collins followed with his two 3-pointers of the night. Austin Greene came through again with his third 3-pointer. The Lions were up by six halfway through the second half, but Ronnie Stanley helped extend that lead. Ronnie Stanley scored his first four points back-to-back. Zach Vess could steal the ball from the Surge and pass it to Ronnie Stanley who made his first 3-pointer of the night. Emerson McClung grabbed an offensive rebound to put it up right back up with his second dunk of the game. The Surge started fouling back-to-back allowing Trevor Jain, Kurtis Robinson, Emerson McClung, and Ronnie Stanley to add all their free throw points to the board. During that, Zach Lillie made his first 3-pointer of the night. Emerson McClung was on fire tonight as he flew down the court for his third dunk of the night. Emerson McClung put the Lions back in a 12-point lead. Zach Lillie put up the final points on the board with a free throw. The Lions won the game with the final score at 73-83.
The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team now holds an overall record of 7-4, with a conference record of 2-1. The Lions will play Pfeiffer at home Thursday Nov. 15 and then will take a break for Christmas. That game will be at 4:00 P.M.
