7 TRIATHLETES QUALIFY FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Athens, GA: The Emmanuel College triathlon team competed in The Early Bird Sprint Triathlon (400 meter pool swim, 20K bike, 5K run) on April 9, 2017 on the campus of the University of Georgia. 7 collegiate teams and 270 athletes competed. This event was a qualifier for Collegiate Nationals.

On the Men's side, Dwayne Foxworth was the top EC male finisher in 1:20:22. Simon Roberts finished in 1:22:28.

On the Women's side, Sara Duarte was the top EC female finisher in 1:21:34. Senior, Laura Gonzalez (1:23:43) Audrey Johnstone (1:25:31) Senior, Paisley Whitaker (1:34:22) and Megan Dawes (1:37:51). These results helped the EC women finish 5th in the team standings, defeating the University of Georgia and the University of South Carolina. Georgia tech took the top spot, followed by Clemson, Alabama, and Auburn.

All 7 EC athletes qualified for the 2017 Collegiate Triathlon National Championships in Tuscaloosa, AL on April 22, 2017. GO LIONS!
